About us

We believe singing is good for you and that everyone can sing.

Sound Resource singing projects are:

Inclusive – open to

  • Adults of any age
  • People living with health conditions such as; lung conditions, Parkinsons disease, dementia, visual impairment, mobility issues
  • Family members, carers and support workers can join in
  • No singing or musical experience needed, no auditions

Participatory

  • Participants are encouraged to suggest musical material to use in sessions
  • Peer Chorus is a self-selected sub-group of volunteers from our singing projects which visits local community groups and health and social care settings.
  • CD of material used in the sessions is produced with participants, so that exercises and songs can be sung at home and shared with others
  • Members have opportunities to participate in external arts projects – eg the Artlink Breath Project

Accessible

  • Free or low cost sessions
  • Accessible venues – housing association buildings, care homes, leisure facilities, community spaces
  • Help available for travel costs
  • Songs taught by ear, call and response – no need to read music or have singing experience
  • Seated or standing singing
  • Carers and support workers encouraged to come along
