We believe singing is good for you and that everyone can sing.
Sound Resource singing projects are:
Inclusive – open to
- Adults of any age
- People living with health conditions such as; lung conditions, Parkinsons disease, dementia, visual impairment, mobility issues
- Family members, carers and support workers can join in
- No singing or musical experience needed, no auditions
Participatory
- Participants are encouraged to suggest musical material to use in sessions
- Peer Chorus is a self-selected sub-group of volunteers from our singing projects which visits local community groups and health and social care settings.
- CD of material used in the sessions is produced with participants, so that exercises and songs can be sung at home and shared with others
- Members have opportunities to participate in external arts projects – eg the Artlink Breath Project
Accessible
- Free or low cost sessions
- Accessible venues – housing association buildings, care homes, leisure facilities, community spaces
- Help available for travel costs
- Songs taught by ear, call and response – no need to read music or have singing experience
- Seated or standing singing
- Carers and support workers encouraged to come along
