November 2024

We were honoured to have the company of the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, James Macnamara (https://highsheriffofoxfordshire.co.uk/current-high-sheriff), at a Moving Music concert on 28 November 2024 in Dorchester Abbey, and to receive a certificate from him for our work. We heard about the history of the High Sheriff’s role (https://highsheriffofoxfordshire.co.uk/history), and were treated to joyful music by Christopher and Celia Redgate, between them performing on piano, oboe, violin and flute, together with Hannah Davey leading the sing-along songs.

Audience members said: ‘Amazing – as always – beautiful and very moving’; ‘Brilliant, joyful. Very high standard!’; ‘Thank you for a truly wonderful event. My father absolutely loves them.’

May 2021

During recent online meetings, the Trustees agreed to examine ways and methods that would allow Sound Resource’s practitioners to get back to holding live in person activities again, following the period of inactivity due to COVID. Some of the initiatives and ideas are as follows:

  • Emily Marshall has been conducting online zoom sessions throughout the last 12 months. Sing Yourself Happy – https://naturalvoice.net/choir/sing-yourself-happy-weekly-online
  • We have commissioned a short film to be produced, highlighting the benefits of group singing, social contact and the many advantages of being involved in singing and concert groups.
  • We are investigating outdoor venues, or formats that would be suitable for taster sessions to encourage people to get out and join singing and performing groups again.

A previous member who attended the Ark T singing group whilst on a research trip in the UK was so inspired by the work that she returned to Sao Paulo and has set up her very own singing group, closely based on the methods and principles here at Sound Resource. Marta will be starting her class at the end of March and is being supported by Sound Resource UK.
